Happy Wine Wednesday!

Dozens of Reasons to Like Today

I could not blog today without paying special notice to the momentous date: 12 -12-12! The day, month and year all match, which will not happen again until January 1, 2101.

This is kind of a big deal, and around the world, people are celebrating in different ways.

Pinball 12People are getting married, ribbon cuttings are happening, and one of the largest events in music history will be held today. The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, The Who and Paul McCartney and apparently even Nirvana will perform at a Hurricane Sandy relief concert at New York’s Madison Square Garden. Organizers expect two billion people will watch through TV, radio and online streaming.

And 12 in general is a pretty special number. There are 12 inches in a foot, 12 face cards in a deck, and of course 12 is the magic number in a dozen donuts…

The way we like to celebrate is by reminding ourselves that our wines come in cases of 12 750ml bottles.

So, to pass our observance of today on to you, for any Haywire or BS wine, if you contact whitney@okanagancrushpad.com and tell her you want the 12-12-12 deal, we will give you 12% off, and free shipping!

The Bub is a Raging Hit

You might recall we released our first sparkling wine two weeks ago. Called The Bub, it's a delicious, bubbly wine named for Alison Scholefield’s childhood nickname.

Christine Coletta toasts the BubAnd it is SOLD OUT.

ATTENTION: The next release of the Bub will be a pink edition, just in time for Valentine’s Day! You read it here first.

Again there will only be 50 cases made.

If you are a member of THE Club @ Crush Pad, you will be offered the wine first, and we encourage you to contact whitney@okanagancrushpad.com to get your name on the list now whether you are in THE Club or not, to avoid disappointment.

Also selling rapidly, are two other small offerings:

Small Offerings from Haywire

2011 Haywire Gamay Noir

($25.00) (only 90 cases made)

A brand new release, this Gamay Noir from Secrest Vineyard was intended to be blended, but our consulting winemaker Alberto Antonini was so pleased with it, he asked us to bottle it as a single varietal so others could see how special it is too.

A refreshing red wine made from bright red fruit that leads to raspberry, strawberry and cherry with firm tannins. Pair with grilled salmon, pork roasts and barbeque classics.

2011 Haywire Chardonnay

($23.00) – This is a single vineyard wine from Canyonview Vineyard and is Raised in Concrete™ (only 105 cases made)

Here’s what the critics are saying...

- “Muted citrus, melon and lime peel flavours with just a hint of chalk in the background” - Gismondionwine.com

- “Long chalky and briny finish fascinates” - Tidings

- “Top-notch, un-oaked Chardonnay” - Icon Wines

- “Clean crisp chardonnay with aromas of white peach and stone fruit” - Natalie MacLean
