Michael Bartier
Head Winemaker
A seasoned and respected winemaker born and raised in the Okanagan Valley, Michael has earned a deserved reputation for superior wine production. His career in the wine industry started after graduating from university, when he began working for a wine importing company. This role exposed Michael to the world of wine and he knew he had to get involved.
Michael’s winemaking experience was launched by making wine at the Okanagan’s Hawthorne Mountain Vineyards (See Ya Later Ranch). From there he took university courses a UC Davis and Washington State University. He followed that with an apprenticeship with Australia’s celebrated Hardys winemaker, Tom Newton. Working alongside Newton was invaluable and Michael came away from his time in Australia with new skills, ideas, and a perspective on the kind of winemaker he aspired to be. On his return to Canada, Michael made wine at Township 7, Stag’s Hollow and Road 13 Vineyards. As head winemaker for Okanagan Crush Pad he will manage the facility and liaise with consultant Alberto Antonini and winery partner David Scholefield, in addition to overseeing everything from managing supplies and sourcing fruit to implementing custom crush programs: ultimately helping others find the vision for their own wine style.
When not working Michael is extremely active, cycling, trail running and spending time with his family.
